The Collection of Images at the Film Museum dates back to 1986. The key mission of the Collection is to
collect and preserve various creative materials of production designers, including art directors, costume
designers, special effects technicians, makeup designers or property masters.
Graphic and visual materials account for most of the Collection of Animated Cartoons and Slide Films in
the State Central Film Museum. As often as not, animated cartoons and slide films are a totally unreal
world of make-believe.
The Photo Collection is the largest collection of the Film Museum. The items of the Photo Collection
reflect one century of the Russian and (to a lesser degree) international cinema history in many ways.
The Collection of Manuscripts and Documents dates back to 1987. By the beginning of 2011, it
comprised almost 12,000 basic items and 5,000 scientific and auxiliary items.
The Collection of Rare Books at the Film Museum dates back to 1987. At present, it comprises almost
15,000 items divided into two major sections: the Collection of Rare Books and the Research Library.
The mission of this Collection is to collect, keep, and study various cinema-related objects and
memorabilia of cinema history. At present, the Collection comprises 2,120 basic items and 2,520
scientific and auxiliary items that vary in type and purpose.
